Seniors (16 & Over ) Our active senior members range from age 16 to 60 . The main role of our senior members is to provide the backbone of our lifeguard service at Durley chine every weekend and Bank Holiday from May to September inclusive. All our senior members work towards the National Beach lifeguard qualification which is provided by and often heavily subsidised by the Royal Lifesaving Society UK (RLSS). Senior members are also trained in extended life support and first responder skills including the use of a defibrillator and the administration of oxygen. Although some of our members come up through the club many join in their late teens and twenties. Full training can be provided with beach lifeguards being encouraged to maintain a good fitness level through club training. Training is provided at an all inclusive rate of just £10 a month (by standing order), including beach training; pool training; beach operational days and safety cover exercises. The club has a very active social side with regular BBQ's at the beach in the summer months and regular social events away from the beach. Many members have made great friends through the club as it attracts like minded people from across the district. There is no geographical limitation on membership, just the distance you are willing to travel, which due to our central location(s) is never that far. We are actively recruiting senior members (Experienced or novice) at present and will happily arrange for new members to be supported and mentored through courses where appropriate. All we ask is that you are a capable swimmer. The definition of this is highly variable we would encourage all potential new members to come to a few training sessions and see how they get on. |
