Cadets (13 - 16 years )

Cadet training focuses on developing skills and the attainment of RLSS Bronze medallion; award of merit and assistant beach lifesaver awards.

Cadet training is currently led by Joe Fox, the clubs captain and runs from 1900-2200 on a Friday night at Stokewood road leisure centre. Training directly relates to beach operational activities which cadets are actively encouraged to become involved in from age 14 once suitably qualified and experienced. Many of our cadets also use the opportunity to use lifesaving for Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme activities. High Achieving cadets are noted by the cadet of the year award, recognising those with a particular commitment over the preceding year to BLGC.

Cadet and senior training costs £10 per calendar month (By standing order) and includes all pool and beach training and beach operational activities (the only exclusion is examination costs). New Cadets are encouraged and there are (At the time of publication) spaces in this section of the club for new members. The only membership criterion is the ability to swim a distance of 100m in a swimming pool confidently.
