Become a Lifeguard Bournemouth Lifeguards run a number of different Lifeguard courses all year round. The NBLQ (National Beach Lifeguard Qualification) is the qualification that all the members of the club work towards from an early age. The NBLQ is accepted by any employer wishing to employ beach lifeguards anywhere in the country. Many of the younger club members who have come up from rookie lifesaving, or new members to the club with no lifesaving experience will usually do a Bronze Medallion first before moving up to the NBLQ. The Bronze Medallion is a great introduction to lifesaving, teaching lifesaving skills and first aid. Once a club member has got a Bronze Medallion then they are eligible to come to the beach to help with the volunteer patrols we do during the summer. This all helps gain experience for the NBLQ, and if you did want to go on to work on the beach at the age of 18. Once elligable for coming to the beach you can work towards your RYA Power Boat Level 2 & Safety Boat qualifications, which will allow you to drive the rescue boats when doing safety cover for events such as the Bournemouth Triathlon & Aquathons etc. We train at Stokerood Road Leasure Centre on Friday evenings from 1900-2200.
